Heart Rate Variability

Heart Rate Variability Analysis (HRV) has provided a useful tool to explore the spiritual-emotional component of the physiologic energetic transactions detected between healer and client.

For an excellent detailed description of HRV methodology and interpretation in this research context refer to the publications of the Institute of HeartMath (www.heartmath.org).

Refer to: Energy Transaction Between Healer and Client Measured by Heart Rate Variability(HRV) Analysis. Acosta-Urquidi, J. and Trechak, A.  JACM, 2004,Vol. 10, no. 4, p. 728.

Before Healing

HVR Before Healing Before Healing HVR

HRV analysis of client in a sitting resting state before receiving healing from Dr. Corey Sondrup. The tachogram record (upper, showing 3 min. sample), revealed some small irregularities (mean 71.8 BPM, SDNN 58 ms). Power-frequency spectrum (below) revealed complex signature, consisting of 4 peaks distributed in VLF, LF and HF regions. The tallest peak is in VLF, indicating sympathetic dominance.

After Healing

After Healing HRV After Healing HRV Graph

Patient receiving a healing from Dr. Corey Sondrup. Note the tachogram displayed larger and slower fluctuations (mean 69.8 BPM, SDNN 92.8 ms). Power-frequency spectrum (below) revealed tallest peaks shifted to VLF region (note calibration scale is now at 200 and HRV component VLF was enhanced). This indicates increased sympathetic arousal, while there was no increase in mean heart rate.
