How are You a Bigger, Better Person?
How Are You a Bigger, Better, Stronger Person?
The way we master traumatic, painful and unpleasant experiences in our lives is to discover new positive traits, values, qualities, and characteristics about ourselves.
Always ask yourself, “How am I a bigger, better, stronger person because of the experiences I went through in my life”
This exercise is especially useful when dealing with painful events such as physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Discovering new positive traits, values, qualities, and characteristics allows us to put a positive spin on any particular experience. Once we discover this about ourselves, it becomes much easier to move into a state of forgiveness and gratitude for the experience we went through. Another way to look at it is, we may not have discovered or learned these new positive qualities about ourselves without going through a particular painful experience.
Step 1: Like the blessing inventory, list at the top of the page; “How am I a bigger, better, stronger person because of trauma, abuse, event, etc. I went through?”
Step 2: Begin to list any new positive traits, values, qualities, or characteristics about yourself.
Sep 3: Continue to add to the list when you discover something new about yourself.
Step 4: Begin to move into a state of gratitude for the experience you went through. Lessons have been learned, you are truly a bigger, better, stronger person because of what you went through, embrace love, kindness, compassion, and gratitude for your new qualities.
Step 5: Party!
